trying to rip win xp from a pc but the d*mn thing is crazy glued to the pc!

Okay tried to elimante it using command prompt in dos
format c:
but for some reason this does not work

Anyone one with windows xp delete ideas as I need this machine to go to a reasonable os

fdisk it, delete the partition and recreate it
the problem is that windows still has its boot records in the partition , regardless of format

  ok before you fdisk, pick out your favorite flavor of *nix, then grab a trusty fdisk disk.

Boot up the disk, and type fdisk /mbr

This will clear you your master boot record.

All that is left to do is pop in your linux disk and you are on your way to a world with out boundries.

  well the fdisk part makes sense, but the rest is just my ramblings trying to show him the light of linux.
