I used to own the only free ColdFusion hosting company on the internet ( www.cfm-resources.com ) however, since I left they changed the way they offer the free hosting in the way that they now charge a $30.00 setup fee, but after that it's free! The only other ones that have come up after that are: www.cf-developer.net (Not currently taking new applications) www.csddesigns.com (This one is still taking applications, but you must ask for ColdFusion to be turned on, you can achieve this by emailing the webmaster and explaining why you want CF enabled).
Thanks, Pablo Varando

Good old cfm-resources.com, well, when Pablo was there. I used to be a member there, and when they decided to charge, I wasn't going to pay a $30.00 activation. I pay $9.95 /month for hosting and $8.95 /yr for a domain. That is the best and cheapest prices I've come across yet. If you are interested, you could get a discount somehow and I could help you with that.

You can also download the developer edition of CFMX and it's free for 30 days. After that, you can only access CFM pages from one IP address. A great way to start learning CF!

I don't know if this falls under the too good to be true category, but I just ran across https://www.stokia.com/features.html which is offering free hosting for one year with $30.00 setup fee. I know nothing about them but remembered your post and thought I would pass it the link ~megan

Added Note: I emailed stokia with a few questions about their hosting service - they have not answered. Maybe they are defunct - but at any rate if they take more than 48 hours to jump on a possible sale, who know if there would be any support at all - additionally, their whole thing may be a scam ~megan
